The Global
Jazz Art Collection
The Global Jazz
Art Collection is an Art Project in process by contemporary artist
Henk Mommaas. Every six months new works are added to the collection
and presented on the internet. As a subject and metaphor he has chosen
composers and musicians whom are pillars in the Jazz History. He started
with the area of Charlie Parker.
This collection
will be of a monumental stature in which Mommaas uses energy, tension,
form and color to portray the history of Jazz. He has chosen those
musicians and composers whom were essential for the sound and style
of their time. For Mommaas Jazz is above all a world language and
lifestyle. The energy and vital richness that Jazz represents is
the driving force that brought Mommaas to give form to this festival
of color.
In every
painting he portrays the personal soundcolor of the specific Jazz
artist. In this Mega project he will visualize the biggest All-Star
Big Band on canvas in the world representing an energetic urge for
life, vital beauty, freedom and space for personal improvisation
and cooperation.
